Sig carry guns

Stupid question I believe I already know the answer too, just wanted to check with other users who have had a similar situation. So I carry a Sig p229 legion, I take care of my gun and clean it as often as a carry gun should be cleaned. I know you're not supposed to oil the mag well, but I notice I have corrosion on the mag release, and it takes some force to release the mag. I know some solvent and oil will take care of the problem, I'm assuming. Is the mag release something that should be removed and cleaned in this circumstance, or is it alright to clean, and work the lube in there while still assembled? I don't often find myself asking such a basic question, moving from a all polymer gun, to a all metal gun such as the Sig has me learning new tricks.
