After many years of talking about getting my CCW license, I made an appointment at my regional Department of Agriculture office in Orlando for Friday May 6th at 1:30pm. Being an honorably discharged veteran, I simply brought my DD-214 and my credit card to my appointment. I was called back promptly at 1:30 and after the online application process that took literally less than 5 minutes, they took my digital fingerprints and advised me that I should receive a response in 30-45 days being a veteran. It's interesting as seeing the person in front of me in the queue was overheard being told that he should receive a response between 60 and 90 days from the same clerk. I thanked them kindly for the help--it was truly a great experience and everyone was all smiles and very pleasant throughout the process--and I was on my way before 2pm. After work on last Tuesday on a whim I thought I'd check the status of the application using the directions they provided and to my complete and total surprise it reported that my application had been approved on May 10th (Tuesday)! It mentioned to allow 7-10 days for printing and mailing of the license. I just received it in the mail today, along with my new Aliengear holster for my new XDs 9mm. Perfect timing for both my holster and my CCW license to arrive on the same day! It's amazing to think that the actual printing and mailing of the license took longer than the application and approval process. I know they mention expediting veterans applications, but it took two business days to process which is beyond what I could have realistically expected.TL:DR: Had my Florida CCW license in my hands 10 days after submitting in person. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1stgWlf
