Removing wedge from holster- will it cause my gun to rust?

I recently bought a Slim Fit Guard Ultra AIWB holster for my Canik TP9 Elite SC. It comes with a pre-installed rubber wedge as you can see in the pictures.While it was a nice idea, I find that the wedge makes the holster way too thick, and starts to dig into my hip after a while. Removing it makes the holster 1000x more comfortable, but I’m concerned about sweat getting into the holes and causing my gun to rust.
