Disclaimers: I've been to, and helped teach a lot of CCW classes. I have not taught classes in a year. I have no personal financial interest in CCW classes to continue. I live in a soon to be Constitutional Carry state. My wife will benefit from this. I'm a Fudd on this issue, go on.I'm sure most, if not all of you have been to a similar class but this will be skewed from my experiences.The majority of students were women. Because the person who promoted the classes on her social media was also a woman. Almost all of them had been fed the revolver myth. Or to use .380 Ruger which is not fun to shoot. Few of them had trained until we offered to go to the range. This is a broader gun culture issue and a lack of practical experience issue. Education and training remove these issues very easily.Some students, regardless of gender, didn't know basic handling of semi automatic firearms. Some students took the class before even purchasing a firearm. Many students had no idea the difference between single action, double and semi-auto and we oft had to repeat the functionality of firearms.Suicide Prevention training in these classes are really good. Including safe storage and firearms education with children and safety with children.I understand that the licenses are annoying in some states (Fees, paperwork, and time) and downright prohibitive and infringements in other states (Looking at you California). So how do we educate first time Concealed Carriers in the whole populace? This sub is very helpful but newsflash not every carrier is a redditor. And while a lot of you dream of firearms training going back into the education system that's not going to happen.
