XDs mod 2 trigger

I'm new to striker-fired guns (raised on 1911s), and I'm pretty set on getting an XDs mod 2 for a smaller CCW. What's your opinion of the XDs mod 2 trigger? It felt squishy to me at the range (no real wall), and my buddy hated it compared to other strikers he's used to. Half of the reviews on the internet say it's one of the better striker triggers, half say it's garbage. Tests come in anywhere between 6.5 and almost 8 lbs. Is this poor QA/QC by Springfield?
