Texas 30.06 question

On the University of Texas at Austin Property: 30.06 sign posted - it's legit and legal.My question is this: can I unload the gun, put it in a small case and keep it in my backpack on the same grounds where the 30.06 is posted??That way it's not loaded, no clip in it. etc......
