Traveling to Michigan/ duty to inform

I am traveling from Missouri to Michigan and am wondering if the car that I am traveling in(as a passenger) gets pulled over do I have to inform the officer if my firearm in in the trunk in a hard case separate d from the ammo.I know Michigan is has a duty to inform when carrying but does that also include when the firearm is the trunk in a non-functional state?
