So I do expert witness work for criminal and custody cases. As a result there are various people around who harbor resentment against me, blame me for their circumstances, etc. I've never been specifically threatened with violence, but some of these folks are pretty irrational and violent, and they all know where my office is and with a little internet sleuthing could easily find my home address. Also, I often work alone and into the evening at my office. I'm a pretty big guy, ex-military, and not really worried about someone trying to beat me up or knife me but I do sometimes worry about one of these guys getting out of jail and deciding to look me up.At the prompting of a judge I got a concealed carry permit in my state and own a concealable pistol. I feel pretty confidant about how to handle my home security, but I wonder how other professionals or individuals who have known antagonists handle the issue of office security. Thus far I haven't carried because I've never been specifically threatened and it seems like lots of people are comfortable carrying for no specific reason, but I'm really not. Anyone else confront this issue because of their line of work? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2kJIXXe
