Carrying an empty holster

I recently put my amendment paperwork in to get my first pistol (Sig Sauer P938). Of course, my IWB holster (DeSantis Slim Tuk) came in the mail yesterday ions before my paperwork will ever get approved (welcome to NY). My question, is there any benefit to carrying the empty holster around for practice? I’ve never carried before and would like to get a feel for it. I understand that carrying an empty holster will be radically different than carrying the real deal (weight, printing, etc). Is there anything to learn here or am I just wasting my time?Ps.
