Using CCW for Classes, Competition, etc? AKA One Gun to Rule them All

I heard someone comment the other day that they have one gun they use for all their classes, competitions and concealed carry. I feel like this makes a lot of sense given your carry gun is most likely to be used in real world self defense scenario.
