So IL requires people who want to obtain a CCW permit to take a 16 hour class, mine is 5pm-10pm Friday thru Sunday. I have been a firearm owner for about 6 months now and figured since there was a sale on the class now was just as good a time as ever to sign up, so by July I should have my permit as well as decided on what firearm to purchase to carry. The class itself includes everything from firearm rental to hearing protection (they say you can show up empty handed), just have to buy the box of ammo for $15, which I don't mind.
