I'm a first-time lurker on this sub. I just thought of this question while watching one of those "mob member kills another mobster via chokehold" scenes in a movie. It always goes the same: the victim naturally struggles to survive by trying to pry the assailant's arm(s) away from his throat, and of course this just causes the assailant, afraid of the immediate consequences of a failed assassination, to try harder. So what if the victim tries something else instead, such as pretending to go slack after a while (but before he actually goes unconscious and dies, of course), then at least MAYBE there's a chance that the assailant, if not thorough enough, may give the victim at least a temporary respite?
