Proficiency with your compact?

I got my Shield 40 in December and signed up at a local outdoor gun range. You can get your own all-purpose section, setup targets however you want, and has plates.I've been going every weekend, 100 Rounds each time I'd say, for the past few months. At first I couldn't even hit the target at 5 yards, it was awful. After learning more about stance and grip I became better and can consistently hit at 10yrds and sometimes okay at 15yrds.So then I got a couple holsters to practice draw, etc.. it seems like it will take a while to be anywhere near as quick/proficient as any of the videos I see online. That being said, should I still start carrying? This whole time I have wanted to get to a certain proficiency before considering, but I feel it may be a never-ending journey.I'm sure most just get it and start carrying, but I really wanted to make sure if a situation arose I would be 100% confident in my ability and not harm a bystander. Thanks for any info/suggestions! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2ofXJm3
