2016 was the first year I ever kept a new year's resolution....and it was CCW related.

In 2016 I have absolutely, positively never gone out in public without a gun unless it was not lawful to do so. So other than my one weekend a month as a Marine, I haven't so much as ran to Redbox on the corner without carrying. Two things made this much easier accomplish:I spent some coin on a really good shoulder rig for my Glock 26 and adjusted my work attire to suit the rig (self employed)Added a Sig P238 to my carry permit for those quick outings.By having a very comfortable way to daily my 26, I'm now armed 100% of my work days. It's as much a part of my uniform as my pants or boots. I don't think I would feel right being dressed for work without it. Keeping the weight on my shoulders instead of my belt line was a game changer for comfort. Thus is NOT A one size fits all carry option. I'm 6'3" and 220. I can hide it. Smaller people might have issues concealing a shoulder rig. The P238 leaves me with a feeling of being "barely armed" but it's better than nothing. I have a simple $30 leather pocket holster from eBay that does the job nicely and makes it so there is literally nothing I wear that can't handle it. Even basketball shorts work. So the P238 covers weekends. For my active lifestyle I came up with a few simple solutions. I have a $6 tool pouch from Home Depot permanently attached to my life jacket. The Sig and pocket holster fit nicely. Kayaking in Oakland? No problem. I also have a camel back for jogging that conceals the Sig and even the Glock, though access involves slipping it off. Deep concealment is better than leaving it home though. My 2017 resolution is to bring an extra magazine no matter what; something I've not been great about at all times. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2gAzkFs
