Texas knife legality

I purchased a karambit knife (http://ift.tt/29JsGYV) to use for defense, as I live on a college campus that has banned firearms and don't have a concealed carry permit for the same reason. I know that they are legal in Texas, and that the metal ring in the grip has a utility purpose beyond inflicting injury. However, this knife has a small spur in the ring that certainly would work to concentrate the force of a punch into a smaller area, thus increasing damage. I am concerned that this would be considered illegal as being a knuckle weapon. The law states"Knuckles" means any instrument that consists of finger rings or guards made of a hard substance and that is designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with a fist enclosed in the knuckles. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2aiDKzW
