Glad I took up BJJ

Now before I begin this is not meant to persuade anyone into starting BJJ. I simply want to share a story.

So I'm a 22 year old guy and stand at 6'1" and weigh 235. Not to say im huge but i've never really felt small or helpless when concerning self defense. I also have been studying BJJ for 6+ months and the other day a guy comes in to check out a class. Hes about 6'3" and 280 lbs. We start rolling at the end of class and he immediately bull rushes me to the mat and smashes me. Im then on my back and put him into a modified "spider guard" which is basically one foot on inside their elbow and your other foot on their hip. He was being super aggressive and this was the first time I really got a feeling of going against someone that seemed like they were attacking me and didn't also know BJJ. I was able to control and sweep him with relative ease as well as submit him. I thought to myself driving home that night how glad I was that I started BJJ and how it can prepare you for that "worst case scenario" of having someone bigger and stronger on top of you. To end Id like to add that BJJ is only a part of being well rounded. I have a friend whose a boxer and once a week we meet up. He teaches me stand up, and I show him some basic grappling. In the future id like to do some more Krav Maga oriented self-defense too.
