I've always had a curiosity about the 327 magnum. Seemed like a great option for small magnum load wheel guns. Get an extra round over the 38sp with a gun the same size, and also a more energetic round (500+ ft/lbs). With modern bullet technology maybe an expanded bullet comparable to the 38/9mm. So when my LGS had an LCR .327 for a fair price I picked one up. Really like the gun ergonomics, but the full power rounds are stout to put it gently. You can also shoot other 32 loads with it for range time. When I looked for ballistics gel info, I didn't find much. So I thought what the heck, I might as well give it a try. I mixed up some 10% ballistics gel and the next weekend took it out in the back yard. The original mold was 6"h x 12"w x 10"l, I cut it in half lengthwise to get a block size 6" x 6" x 20". The gel was covered with two layers of denim and one of cotton and fleece. Shots were taken from 10 feet away, with Gold Dot 100gr hollow points.Below is a video of the first shot of twohttps://vimeo.com/164010923All shots expanded and penetrated through the entire block, the first two water jugs, then came to rest in the third water jug.The cross sectional picture below shows the first shot's entryhttp://imgur.com/7gltzWGHere is the entry of the second shothttp://imgur.com/mfmItLiWound cavity of the second shothttp://imgur.com/Q5UwA71Expanded bullet and the round and gun usedhttp://imgur.com/I1RauyJhttp://imgur.com/0ar7RcmI was most surprised to see such a large wound cavity for a .32 diameter round, given the deep penetration. I will say though this round from such a small gun produces very stout recoil, making quick followup shots challenging. With a bit more practice maybe I can get more proficient with quick followup shots, now if only I could find affordable 327 magnum ammo... via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1WkA9QP
