Early 2020 Disney World Trip Report

Went to Disney World prior to the shutdown over the pandemic. Hit all four parks. Had a firearm and knife with me but did not attempt to carry either into the parks (left in a lockbox in the car in the parking lot).At Animal Kingdom and Epcot, as a single dude with no bag, I was just waved in without passing through a metal detector. I don't think either had enough Metal Detectors to screen everybody entering the park.At Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom, they have enough Metal Detectors and everybody goes through them. Oddly enough, they don't have you dump your pockets, just hold up your cell phone as you go through.Got the 'no weapons' speech on the trams and at the gates, but interestingly enough they were saying you'd have to take whatever back to your vehicle, not threatening arrest or confiscation.Mostly stayed in non-Disney hotels, but did a couple nights at Disney Springs. Despite being a non-Disney hotel, there was no 'do not disturb' tag to put out. Don't think somebody just stole it from my room either, didn't see one out anywhere else on property. Disney Springs hotels get extra magic hours, so Disney is probably demanding they follow Disney hotel policy on this. Housekeeping was in tidying up without fail.Speaking of Disney Springs Proper (the mall), it's completely wide open. Carried firearm and knife with no incidents. Also did both Universal Parks and Seaworld. Everybody goes through metal detectors at all of them. At Universal, I don't think you can even get into CityWalk without going through Metal Detectors. As far as Universal, they have a couple rides (Rip Ride Rockit and the Hulk) where you go through a metal detector in line. Won't let you take a cell phone even if it's secured in a zippered pocket. The Hulk at least has lockers that are free for the duration of your ride (supposedly calculated dynamically based on current queue length).Make of this info what you will, but don't do anything stupid.Question: Does Disney allow in pocket knives under a certain blade length? Seems they used to. Didn't see anybody trying it and not sure they still do. Anybody tried recently? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/33A4zHT
