While I live in Texas, a place where guns are popular, and I have an interest in firearms, I don't know if I'd have what it takes to fire upon another. However, pepper-spray can kill people with breathing issues, and stun-guns can kill those with heart issues. As such, is there anything else that might be a useful self-defense weapon? Ideally, with range beyond melee.
