Would MMA be a good compliment to CCW or not?

So I've been wanting to study a martial art for quite some time. The general consensus for which martial art is the best complement to CCW seems to be Krav Maga. However, there is only one Krav school in my area and their classes don't work at all with my schedule. I found an MMA gym in my area that's pretty close and works with my schedule, but I had a few concerns. I'm open to the idea that some of these assumptions may be incorrect, but here are some of the things I'm concerned about: 1.Too much emphasis on competition/sport. My ultimate goal is self defense and not becoming a UFC fighter or trying to prove something.2."Go hard or go home" culture. I'm in my 30s now with an office job and don't want to be going to work concussed every couple days3.My biggest concern is just having it get me in the wrong mindset. I'm afraid of getting in the habit of focusing on only one opponent and not taking weapons into account, for instance geting someone into a clinch or grappling by habit, while his buddy sneaks up and hits me in the back of the head. So those are the things I'm a bit concerened about. My CCW is the only thing for self defense that I've practiced with recently. I did do Tae-Kwon do and wrestled in high school but I'm pretty rusty from that. I would like to have somethin intermediate to deal with a random drunk by himself or some 17 year old hooligan who needs to be put down but doesn't deserve to die for his mistake. So what are your thoughts on this? Edit: apologies for the multiple posts, my internet connection was being flaky via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2FLVmi8
