What kind of holster for velcro-based panels?

Been seeing some of these backpacks and jackets with these hook and loop fasteners ('velcro') intended for smaller pistols. How exactly are these intended to be used? Just attach some velcro to a (kydex?) holster and slap it onto the velcro panel?Curious as I've been seeing more and more of these. May work for a smaller polymer like a Shield or LCP, but can't imagine a heavier metal pistol hanging on reliably--I could be wrong though. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2I6lyFX
