Traveling to North Carolina from Pennsylvania. Need to travel through Maryland.

I've read handgunlaw.us about traveling through Maryland, and if I read correctly, if I separate firearm from magazine, and keep them locked in the bed of my truck, which will be locked too, I can drive through as long as I don't stop.I guess I'm looking for expirence regarding this and reassurance.
