I was approached at a gas station

I was on my way to work and decided to stop at a gas station to pick up a energy drink. I live near Birmingham AL, which has some bad parts you want to stay away from. I arrived at about 4:15 in the morning, not many cars on the road. As i pulled into the parking lot i saw a large man near the air pump driving a older but well kept Mercedes. You could tell he spend time at the gym. Then there is me, i'm 5'5 about 125lbs.As i'm pulling in he starts waving and walking towards my car. I put it in park but kept it running. I look around and realize it's just us. I don't even see the store clerk in the window. He motions for me to roll down the window. This made me a little nervous. Luckily i was appendix carrying my Springfield XDS 9mm. I rolled the window down just a tad so i could hear him. He said he needed some money to buy propane to heat his house. Sounded kind of BS to me since he had a Mercedes.I politely told him i wasn't carrying any cash. Again he asked me and said there may be an ATM in the store. Again i told him i was sorry, and that he was making me uncomfortable. Asked him if he would please move away from my vehicle. Then he started begging. At this point my mind is racing. Wondering if he might make a move or get angry. About 2 mins later i hear a car pull up. A police car pulls up 3 spots down from me. The cop makes eye contact with me and i motion for him to come over.He asks if everything is ok. I told him that the gentleman is asking for money and is refusing to step away from my car. Cop tells me to stay in my car. He takes the man to his squad car and talks to him for about 5 mins before coming back to me. Asked if the man threatened me and if i wanted to press charges. Told him he just wouldn't take no for an answer and i was afraid of getting out of my car. He told me to go inside, get what i needed and he would make sure i left the gas station safely. So things turned out Ok. I have only been carrying for a year. Glad i started sooner than later. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2jI0Z72
