As the title says. I found a gun today at work. It was sitting in a high traffic area, where kids could have gotten hold of it easily. It was a compact ruger, loaded and chambered. I unloaded it, cleared the chamber and took it down to my security office. Called our non-emergency PD line, reported we found the firearm and wanted to turn it in to police custody.Five minutes later, and older gentleman with his son were brought down to our office by a co-worker. He stated the firearm was his. I informed him that PD had been called, but I would call back distpatch and ask what they wanted me to do. I made the call, gathered his info, relayed it and they said it was all clear to return it to him.He must have applogized 1000x. Said he had never done this before for as long as he carried. I didn't tear into him (kinda wanted too) but told him to be more careful next time.Guess it can be taken as a refresher. Always know where your firearm is. Question though. Will he lose his CCW for this? What is the charge for leaving behind your firearm (California here)? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/20OstqP
