Just sent this to my county commissioner:Commissioner [redacted],As a resident of your district, I was hoping you could help me with an issue with the sheriff. I applied for my concealed carry permit on 30 December, 108 days ago. On 17 February, my medical records were released (now required by state law) to the sheriff. State law requires that the sheriff issue or deny permits no more than 45 days from this point; however, when I called today (I've been checking the online system daily) my permit has not been issued nor assigned a processor. It has been 61 days since my medical records were released, and the sheriff is now in violation of state law.I am an active duty member of the [redacted] National Guard, and I applied for my permit to carry due to the shooting in Tennessee at a facility just like the one I work at daily. My uniform is a target, and I'd like to be able to use the rights I've served 15 years to protect. I don't understand why a law enforcement official is allowed to flagrantly disregard the law himself. I have called the sheriff's office and they were borderline rude, simply stating "your permit hasn't been issued." When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told she was on the other line. She did not return my call, although it was later in the afternoon when I left a message. If you could please help me with this issue, I would appreciate it, and you would have my vote in the upcoming election. It simply doesn't make sense that neighboring counties are issuing permits in less than three weeks, and our county, which should be the best equipped and funded, is taking over three months.Thank you for your time. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1rcRi3M
