I’m currently in the process of applying for my LTC in Massachusetts. The only thing I’m worried about is this one time I accidentally overdosed experimenting with drugs. I was a young adult, who was curious and my friends had some stuff.Needless to say, the EMS were called. I don’t have a problem with drugs, but my family overreacted and sent me to this private rehab facility (to which I went willingly). I was only there for two weeks and haven’t touched anything ever since.I talked this over with my doctor, because since I went voluntarily I was not “committed”. However, my towns requirement is that you have to wait 5 years if you have ever been to a treatment facility for substance abuse/mental illness. It’s only been 2 years since the incident, but like I said, I don’t have a problem with drugs. It was just an overreaction on my family’s part.So my question is, will any of these medical records show up on the background check they conduct in order to determine your eligibility to possess an LTC? Or is that information protected by the HIPAA confidentiality laws? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2QzU4yF
