I am in a state that allows concealed carry public university/college campuses. However, my public university code of conduct either does not explicitly state, or in the past did not allow carry on campus. Can a public university punish a student carrying with a ccw permit, despite the state laws?

My school’s code of conduct states that unlawful possession/carry of weapons including firearms is prohibited. I assume “unlawful” means without a permit (CO requires a permit to carry), so if a person were to get caught carrying on campus grounds, can they face consequences policy-wise in regards to a public school policy despite a lawful, current permit? Or does state law override any policy? Im not worried about legal punishment, because I know that’ll be fine, just school punishment. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2EE78QU
