Hey all. I was wanting to know your input on this situation.
I am considering buying some pepper spray to carry around on walks with me to use in cases of self defense. Today my girlfriend and dog were charged by an off leash dog (a bully breed) who began fighting my dog ( a leashed 20lb shiba Inu). My girlfriend managed to get my dog away and then move back, and the other owner had no control over their dog whatsoever. This is the second time in six months that a larger off leash dog has ran up to my dog and began fighting.
As shitty as it is to think about using pepper spray on a dog, would it technically legally count as self defense?
To add to this: I don’t intend for this to be used in a dog park (obviously, as risk is taken going in there) or in a situation where both dogs are leashed and under control.
