The first round in the magazine

1: I keep a round in the chamber 2: I unload my carry after I get home. ( I have another gun for home defense )I want to make sure if this is right: it is okay to keep the ammo in the magazine for a long time if you don’t get contamination such as a cup of coffee in there. However, the top round might be worn out since I frequently load and unload it.
