Does krav maga give you a false sense of confidence?

  1. You train against multiple attackers. You know, they will stop once you are on the ground. Nobody hits hard.
  2. "You should run away if you can." is the mantra

Now at the one hand you are told you could defend yourself, on the other you should run away. What exactly does that tell you?

To me that's dissociation and it tells me that the teachers themselves know that Krav Maga does not help me survive. Why should you practise Krav Maga if a spinning class or running triathlon is better?

To me, running away from a fight is like letting someone rape you. Does anyone tell a rape victim that at least it was alive?

Not fighting or getting hit and getting out without retaliating fucks with your mind big time for years. And if you do fight and do win, the long lasting confidence boost cannot be replaced by any talking. Because then you can handle a similar situation better.

But if at the same time you think "I will die, I should run away" how does that help with anything?

What do you think, does krav maga give you false confidence?
