Why you should do a mirror check with your CCW

Ok, so I definitely fucked up, but I’m also kind of pissed, so this will be a bit of a rant:I’m a PI and I recently started carrying my G43 in a shoulder holster because I’m in and out of my car all day and waistband carry gets a bit uncomfortable. I was out on an assignment with the mitigation investigator on the case I’m working on (I’m the fact investigator), it was rainy but not too cold, so I was wearing a thin gortex rain jacket over my holster. The other investigator and I are taking a lunch break between interviewing witnesses. Halfway through lunch I get up to go the bathroom, which involves walking away from the other investigator with my back turned to her. As soon as I get in the bathroom I see in the mirror that the zipper vents under the arms of my raincoat are open and my holster is sticking out through the back. I immediately fix my wardrobe malfunction and go to sit back down and finish eating. The other investigator seems uncomfortable but doesn’t say anything.Here’s the part that pisses me off; apparently she told the defense attorney that we both work for that I was carrying. At the next meeting we have the attorney pulls me aside and starts giving me shit for carrying a gun. She’s appalled that I feel the need to carry a gun (of course she sits safely in her office while I go out and knock on the doors of super shady meth addicts), and seems to think that I’m running around threatening witnesses with it or something.Here’s the kicker, she says “I don’t even know what my liability would be if God forbid you had to use it!” Basically she’s telling me that she’d rather I be dead than have to deal with the liability she might face if I have to defend myself.
