Studying videos of successful acts of violence

Often I think we have trouble figuring out "what really works." We watch videos of people in dojos practicing techniques on their friends/students and have no clue how it would actually work out in a real self protection situation.

Why not see for ourselves what really works?

Watch videos of criminals committing successful acts of violence. It is immediate, empirical evidence of "what works." What are they doing that causes such massive trauma? Is it an aikido wrist lock? Is it a jiu jitsu arm bar? A classic karate block-kick-punch?

No, it's a brutal destruction of another human body. It's 100% focus on causing trauma to the other person, and they put everything they've got into it. Crushing the trachea, stomping the knee so it bends in the completely wrong direction, getting their mass directly above a persons head and stomping it against the concrete multiple times. It takes ZERO training. All it requires is the intent and knowledge it can be done. None of these guys are training in dojos.

One may think, "Well jesus that's kinda just going too far." Well this is how I see it: What is the use of a gun? What is the use of a knife? Whether in self protection or criminal violence, they're used to kill people. So, I think we should view our bodies under the same scope. People realize that shooting someone with a gun is meant to kill them. Is shooting someone "going to far?" Well it can be, if used in the wrong situation, but that's kinda the point. You save it for when your life is in immediate danger and it is 100% necessary that you need to use it.

What do ya'll think?
