Right handed but left eye dominate?

Bit of background of myself. I was trained by my Dad (retired marine/cop, now armorer) to shoot long guns left eye/left handed and pistols right eye/right handed. The reasoning was for a quick transition, and I have shot this way for years. But my Mom just recently got a S&W shield 2.0 and I was playing around with it trying it out left handed, since it has the ambidextrous options. It actually felt good. Now the thing is, even after all the years of shooting, I still find myself shooting to the left, anticipating the shot, straining towards the end of a shooting session and so on. But, when I was dry firing left handed left, I felt more solid. Now my question, has anyone here every transitioned from right to left or vice versa? How long did it take you to get proficient? I know that if I do choose to change, it will take a while to get used to it. The other thing that face is that I do carry daily, and I don’t know how/where I should carry during this transition (I currently carry IWB between 3 and 4 o’clock). What would/did you do?Any help is appreciated. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2hlL0zf
