I have a dilemma. I am wanting to purchase a new CCW. I have a shield 9mm, and it's a great little gun that is easy to conceal, however I want a little bigger/wider gun to help with my grip and un-holstering. I feel like a Glock 19 fits better in my hand.I originally was set on 9mm in the Glock 19 platform. We all know the Glock 19 is a great gun, however I was thinking about it a lot lately and feel like 45 ACP or maybe a different caliber would be better for my CCW use. Here is what I think:9mm has lower recoil, good for faster SOT 9mm can have more magazine capacity. 9mm more available and cheaper, good for training.45 ACP has larger cavitation capabilities 45 ACP less "over penetrationMy view use to be 9mm was best because I could carry more rounds, but I was really thinking about it and came to a conclusion that in a situation that I needed to "protect myself" I probably wouldn't need 15 plus 1 rounds. If I am going to discharge my firearm in a personal protection scenario it is most likely going to be inside 10 meters and 2 to 3 well placed rounds in a 45 ACP should do a better job of stopping an attacker than the 9mm IMO.If a threat is farther away or in cover I could see the 16 rounds of the 9mm being a better choice. However if that is the case I wouldn't need to or want to fire at the threat. I would just find cover myself or get the hell out of there.I am looking for a CCW that I can accurately place good shots within 10 yards and have to best potential to hit a vital and stop a threat immediately. The 45 to seems better in this situation.I was also looking at 10mm but find it may be to much and be a concern with over-penetration.Does anyone have thoughts about this. Maybe another semi auto round that would be better than the 45 or maybe something I've missed in my thoughts above. Thanks. Also what would be a good gun model to carry easily in 45 With maybe 6 to 8 rounds?Edit: I also like to go hiking and camping in Oregon. No big concern about grizzly bears, but other wild animals could be a concern. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2jtn9wt
