Not technically a defensive gun use, but my past home self-defense story before I ever learned about the law or CCW.

Several years ago when I first turned 18 my parents let me spend the week at home alone without any supervision. My older brother is a bicycle cop that works for the local city and was on his own vacation also. Late into the week several days before everybody was to come back from their vacation I was awoken by loud thumping noises at the front door garage area. When I went to see what was going on I saw several men trying to break into the garage door with a crowbar, but the door being reinforced made it difficult enough that it took time. I didn't have a CCW or a firearm, but I took the bicycle off the rack and came out the back door. When I got around to the side I activated all the lights and sirens, came around the side road, pointed my cell phone like it was a firearm and screamed "police, show me your hands" repeatedly. One of the men picked up a large rock and hurled it at me screaming how he felt about cops and they both took off. The only damage was the broken door and glass. Looking back after getting yelled at by my family for making that bluff, that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I panicked and have never been in that kind of fear before and did what I thought would make them leave. My brother also told me how I broke a handful of laws taking that action, but the police taking the report said it was my word against two criminals and no way the local DA would prosecute me with those facts. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3kekD9W
