Pros and Cons of red dot on carry pistols and some good options for red dots?

I carry a P229 Enhanced Elite and have been thinking about going RX on it. I didn’t want to commit to a RX slide and end up hating the Romeo-1 but I also didn’t want to ruin my current slide by having it milled for a fitting. I’ve shot a RX pistol once and it was incredible and I’ve been battling with myself on getting one for my carry piece. I can hit my shots regularly and pretty well at 25-30 with my factory Sig nite lights but if I do decide to go RX what would I need?
