Glock 43X review and range report from someone who isn't a Glock fanboy.

I just picked up my Glock 43X with night sights ($499 out the door) and headed directly for the range to test it out.First impressions:The box contains all the usual Glock accessories. Manuals, mag loader, brush, cleaning rod, pistol, 2 magazines. Fit & finish was typical Glock, nothing pretty to look at, but everything looks exactly as it should. The silver grey slide and front serrations do make it look different than your average Glock. The length and thickness of the grip fit my hand perfectly, so it points very naturally for me. The grip texture isn't very aggressive. The trigger seems better than I remember from previous Glocks I've owned and shot. Still the same 5 or 6 lb break, but after the take-up, the stop before the break is more positive. Not spongy like I remember. At the range:I disassembled the pistol and quickly cleaned everything with Hornady One Shot and reassembled. I had bought 3 additional factory mags to bring my total to 5, 3 of my 5 mags were hard to get that 10th round in for the first 3 or 4 loadings. I started with 124gr FMJ, a mix of Federal and Aguila. I loaded to 10+1 for the first mag of every round. After the first mag, the slide failed to lock back. This would be the only "malfunction" I experienced. The pistol shot to point of aim from 5 to 25 yards, but I found the Glock night sights very hard to see clearly if the light was overhead or behind me. The rear notch was too narrow and the sights are satin black instead of dead flat black, leading to a fuzzy sight picture with my aging eyes. I had to rely on the white dots for alignment, and that resulted in less than ideal precision. Plenty good for a defensive pistol, but I was unable to see how accurate the pistol really could be.The pistol was less snappy than other similar sized pistols I've fired like the S&W Shield and Kel-Tec PF9, but I still found it slipping in my hand under recoil, mostly due to the lack of grip texture. I was soon reminded of something that bothered me with my previous Glocks. I quickly developed a blister where the trigger safety contacted my finger. I need to build my Glock callus again.I eventually moved on to my preferred Federal 124gr HST carry load and fired enough of that to be satisfied that this pistol will be 100% reliable with that load. Total round count: 510, made up of 306 rounds of 124gr FMJ and 204 rounds of Federal 124gr HST JHPs. Malfunctions: One failure to slide lock after the first magazine. The Good:ReliabilitySlim profile with full grip length10 round capacityGood looking for a GlockThe Bad:Poor sight picture (for me)Lack of grip textureSummary:The 43X is a great pistol, and my absolute favorite shootable single stack defensive pistol. If the promised aftermarket metal 15 round magazines turn out to be reliable, this pistol will be in a class all by itself, a 1.1" thick 15+1 9mm. I tried a 14 round CZ 75 compact mag and a 15 round Mec-Gar BHP, and both fit easily and drop free, so high cap metal mags are very doable. via /r/CCW http://bit.ly/2JkE6GX
