Last Night's Incident

I'm a 21 year old college student in Milwaukee who recently got his CCW. I live on the 2nd story of a 2 story house that is split into two seperate apartments.Last night at 1:45am my roommate (also a CCW holder) was awoken by his girlfriend who said she heard the back door slam. He got his gun and heard noise downstairs but by the time he got to the bottom of the stairs there was no one there.I wasn't told any of this until my roommate texted me this morning to fill me in and remind me to keep the doors locked (even though I'm the one always having to remind the other roommates). When I got home after work I checked the back door and sure enough, the door jamb was broken and the door no longer locks. I also realized that there is no face-plate/kick-plate installed in the door jamb, which might have prevented the door from being kicked open in the first place. What steps do some of you take to be more prepared for events like this and is there anything I can do to reduce the possibility of an attempted break-in? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2qM1jH2
