First off, sorry if this is a little rambling...little shook up right now. This AM, I was driving from PA to NC, stopped by a rest stop in NC about 10 minutes away from my destination around 4 AM to relieve myself (had 4 redbulls and couldn't wait until i got home...risky I know). A guy approached me as I was getting out of my car and asked for cash for gas. When I said no, he offered to barter tools he had in his trunk. I said no again, and that I didn't have any cash on me. I then locked my car and went into the restroom. The guy followed me in, so I went into a stall and waited him out until he left. When I came out, there was a Trooper there talking to him and he beckoned me over. Before I could inform him that I was carrying, he asked (in front of guy) "You just couldn't wait until you got to my home street to go to the bathroom?" (which tells me he ran my plates) I told him no, he asked if i knew that man. Again, I say no, and he asks me to come over to the other side of his squad car. I comply and immediately inform him as soon as we get over to the other side that I have a CCW permit. He asks if i have my firearm on me, I say yes, he says don't move for it and leaves it at that. He then asks me to tell the truth, which I had already done, told him what happened, that I didn't know the guy and had just stopped to go to the bathroom. His tone sounded like he didn't believe me, and in retrospect, it probably looked pretty shady, with us both coming out of bathroom and me stopping only ten minutes away from house. He tells me that this guy is bad news, and that I'm good news, and so I can go. I thanked him, and drove off.Aside from informing the trooper of my ccw immediately, instead of answering his first question, was there anything you would have done differently here? I understand it was a completely boneheaded thing to stop by the side of the highway at 4 am. Lesson learned. EDIT: To the trooper, this likely looked like a drug deal going down, which would be why he was questioning me. He also didn't ask for my driver's license or CCW permit the whole time. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2jrNY4g
