Thoughts on "looked like you wanted to hurt him"?

I'm referring to when you defend yourself in a physical altercation and you still get blamed for it because "it looked like you wanted to hurt him."

It happened to me a couple years ago and I'm still upset about it.

Why is it a thing? How is it anything other than a convenient excuse to victim-blame someone?

Somebody please explain to me why it matters that I enjoyed fighting a dude off when he was throwing a tantrum and aggressively getting in my space first?

Yes, I enjoyed it. I wanted him to give me the greenlight. But it was one punch. I didn't beat the hell out of him. I didn't follow him or reescalate when he walked away.

He was upset with me because he wanted work materials I was using and thought he got to try to take them by force. He tried and immediately found out why he shouldn't.

Why did I have to pay $300 out of pocket and given conditional release for a year for wanting to teach this punk some manners and doing it lawfully?

Another Sig post, I’m sorry.

Long story short, recently got the P365 a couple months ago, but after all this discharge nonsense I just don’t really “vibe” with them anymore. Not a fan of the way the company is handling the issues, giving me real Remington Walker trigger vibes. Love the form factor and feel of the 365 and looking for decent alternatives after I trade her in. Already have Glock 19, Jericho 941, 1911’s, even a Walther P99 I carry occasionally when weather allows. I guess I’m asking for the group think of another decent carry pistol around the size of the p365. TLDR; Sig bad, me want new gun. What do? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/R7JsLQ4

How do female real estate agents conceal carry?

I (45m) have been conceal carrying for many years. My wife (49f) has been generally uninterested or uncomfortable considering doing the same. I have taken her shooting to familiarize her but she remained hesitant. She is a new-ish commercial real estate agent and is often alone at showings with clients, landlords, and brokers who are strangers sometimes at vacant properties. I've been planting the seed of her getting some formal training and carrying and it is starting to take hold and she has warmed to the idea.I'd like some feedback from females as to how they prefer to conceal. We live in Arizona where it is hot more often than not and being in real estate she dresses up quite a bit (dresses, skirts, blouses, etc). Holstered off body in purse/bag seems like most reasonable but interested in hearing from others. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/nzFlRL6

Neutralising a boxer willing to abuse his skills

I was basically in a laundromat, walking back and forth and a guy there started the discussion and it went like this

[The discussion was in French]

Him: Do you have a problem? Me: No why? Him: You keep walking back and forth Me: I'm just waiting for the laundry to be dry Him: You're searching for problems. There's a child here Me: But... Him: THERE'S A CHILD HERE...

Now I avoided the situation by keeping quiet (in this case any form of pride would've sent me to hospital) and he clearly wanted to trigger a reaction in order to showcase his skills in front of people, however I would like to know whether in Europe (Belgium specifically) it's legal to use any sort of taser to neutralise a person willing to abuse his skills on a harmless weak civilian such as my self. I weight 100kg (220lbs) and I'm 177 cm (5'7 or something) and I have a little bit of strength and some very slight grappling skills but nothing more, I wouldn't have kept up with that guy since he was muscled and he was practicing some box moves in the air and on a washing machine.

Are there some that I can order from Amazon? (I'm not finding any). What is advisable in this scenario?

What do yall do with your EDC at night when camping?

So, I'll be going hiking and camping this fall with friends that have no idea that I carry. I know most of them won't care, but since I'm not yet sure who all is goong and since I'll likely be sharing a tent with someone, I'm trying to figure out what I should do with my setup at night. I usually carry a p365xl in an enigma.I've considered an edc backpack, fanny pack or lock box that I can keep next to me. I've also considered once I know for sure who is going just open carrying, but it's just something I'm tossing around in my head. What do yall do with your EDC at night when camping? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/wioXK71

Do you unload your handgun before stashing it in a lockbox?

So whenever I enter places where I can't carry (post office, school, etc.) I stash my carry gun in a pistol lock box that's attached to my seat rails via steel cable and tucked under my seat to keep it out of sight.I would prefer to keep the pistol holstered in the lock box, but that's simply not an option because a box tall enough to fit my holstered Glock 19 wouldn't fit under my seat.I don't bother to unload the pistol before locking it up because I don't keep anything else in the box and can't imagine anything coming in contact with the trigger. But I figured I'd ask the community. Is it unsafe to keep a loaded handgun in a lock box?And before anyone asks:1. The pistol is holstered BEFORE it's tucked back into my waistband.2. I park on the street in these situations because I can't remember whether I'm even allowed to keep a gun in the parking lot. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/NGV5BSZ

P320 - And I was called stupid here...

We all know about the problems the P320 had and still has. From the resolved drop safety issue to spontaneous discharges, this gun is just not safe. There is a serious design flaw in the system, which could be mended by a physical firing pin block (not just a safety lever) but cannot be really fixed, since SIG nor anyone else can figure out what is really causing the issue. EDC light vs EDC Heavy

So i have a G19.5 with a TLR1 & RMR and a P365XL with TLR7Sub and 507kG19 is holsterless currently; Sig is in a McKinatec holster + spare mag. I'm looking for a holster for my G19 and i was debating sidecar style vs holster with separate mag holder.Statistically, i'll never need the spare mag but in my mind, it helps ease out the bulge of a holster, and holds back my spare tire. In an ideal world, i'd go P365xl in a TXC Beacon; G19 in a TXC Ally or T1C Agis Elite. with the Sig being for a quick run to the store, 19 for heavier use. Problem is, thats more money in holsters than i'd like to spend right now. Holster Advice: Tenicor Certum 3, JMCK Wing Claw 2.0, T1 Xiphos Elite

Hey CCW! I am looking to purchase my first holster, planning to appendix carry, and I've narrowed it down to the following three options: Tenicor Certum 3, JMCK Wing Claw 2.0, and T1 Xiphos Elite. I am looking for some opinions on which may be the best option for me. For context, I am 5'10", 180lbs, athletic/musular build with a slight stomach (lower ab area), and carrying a Walther PDP compact 4" with a red dot, and plan to purchase the holster with DCC clips. I am currently leaning toward the Certum 3. I looked at the Velo 4 but I would rather have the ability to customize a wedge if I need one. What I like about the Certum 3 is its simplicity, it comes with DCC clips, an integrated camming bar (with slight height and size adjustments), and Tenicor's warranty and return policy.I like the JMCK Wingclaw 2.0 because it's also a simple design, and the clips are wider, which I hear is better for stability. They also have great customer service. The T1 Xiphos Elite caught my eye because of the flexible portion on one of the clips, which may assist in better concealment/comfort, but I'm unsure. It would seem that all three companies have excellent reputations, so I'm not too worried about their ability to deliver a great holster. I wanted to fish around for advice or wisdom from more experienced users of these holsters or appendix carriers. Thanks! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/rpTRO6m

Looking for a BREATHABLE summer vest

I like vests. Can leave stuff in them and carry several things. I generally pocket carry a Hellcat, so vertical side zipper pocket is needed. Plenty of vests offer that, but none I can find work to well in the summer. Most are designed to keep you warm, which I don’t want. I just care about the pockets. Any ideas? All I’ve found after days of searching was some cheap Chinese vest with a mesh back. Seen a lot of fishing vests that look breathable, but they tend to have horizontal pouch pockets rather than a vertical zip on the sides. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/SBqfdQe

Carrying a home made firearm

Sometime last year I got a 1911 Pistolsmith certification. At the moment I’m working on doing a complete build from scratch with a frame and slide set that I ordered from Caspian. Just to clarify upfront that the frame is serialized and I filled out a 4473 upon receiving it. But other than that, how would you all feel about carrying a “homemade” weapon and what legal hassles would I be creating for myself if I ever used it in a self defense encounter? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/FGJOEjR

Safety early morning and late night-

I'm in a large city in the US with over 1.5 million people populating the area. I recently totaled my car and won't be getting a new one due to cost. With that being said, my only options now are bus, bike, walking, and Uber.

I just read a post on Reddit about a man and his wife being held at gunpoint and being made to surrender their phones and wallets AND strip down into their underwear. This has reminded me I may be on foot in various areas of the city in early morning and at night alone, walking to a bus stop or to a bicycle, or getting into a strangers car on Uber.

I am out of shape and scared of how I can keep myself safe. I have pepper spray but that is all, and I don't know how to make sure I can react quickly enough to use it if needed.

Any advice on how an overweight asthmatic who is new to being on foot can start building a foundation of remaining safe and aware?

Considering carrying at work against company policy, looking for some input

Going to make this as vague as possible for obvious reasons, but I could use some input.I work in a place that bans staff carry of weapons. I EDC in every other aspect of life, but not at work mostly for fear of losing my career. However a coworker was murdered and another seriously injured at work recently, and I trust the security measures even less than I previously did even if my employer makes a show of improving them. As we know, violent people prefer disarmed targets, and at the end of the day I don't thibk my employer will arm security or allow staff with CCWs to start carrying. Unfortunately switching employers in my field wouldn't make a difference on that, as it's pretty universal that similar/competing employers are also gun-free zones. For that reason I am considering going against company policy and carrying. I am looking for input on two things: 1.) What method would folks recommend for deep concealment in a non-permissive environment? I am considering a CCW fanny pack for a few reasons. First, I wear scrubs for work and won't have a belt. I'm aware of PHLSTER and similar systems, but am looking at fanny packs over that because I work in a pretty active hands-on capacity, and accidently lifting my shirt and revealing a pistol could end my entire career. Second, I work hands-on with confused and occasionally combative people, and having my pistol in a zipped pouch would give me added peace of mind if they were grabbing at me. 2.) How would you go about assuaging the concerns of a partner in this situation? My partner is completely pro-gun, but has concerns more about me getting caught and losing my job. We will be having kids within the next few years, and they are concerned about the prospect of me getting caught, losing my job and forcing them to become sole provider. Of course they also know they'd be forced to become sole provider if one day I didn't come home from work. But any other thoughts you can offer to ease their mind would be appreciated. Thanks for whatever input! I won't be entertaining guesses about where I work or anything. Also, I'm not looking for "just carry, screw your partner," that's not helpful. They have real concerns that I do share, but I think the risk-benefit leans in favor of carryingEdit: not sure why the downvotes, but I really appreciate everyone's input, especially giving me opposing point of view. Receiving texts from my employer saying to run, hide, fight because of an active shooter and hearing two coworkers were shot and one killed has me a bit emotional. I don't want to make emotional mistakes, so I appreciate the thoughts and lack of confirmation bias despite being the CCW sub. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/Ju5AqYE

How to defend against a gun with a gun?

I had read a different post else where about a man and woman that were robbed and then stripped at gunpoint by 2 different assailants. Lets say you were carrying a gun and wanted to defend your partner and yourself. Whats the best method in this situation? You can't just reach for your weapon. If you do and you're quick enough you might be able to shoot one of them, but not both. Do you create a distraction? Whats your solution?

Carry how YOU want to

That’s the name of the game right? You’re an individual and I assume most of us carrying day to day it isn’t part of your job. If you carry AIWB go for it. Carry strong side or cross draw why not, carry 6 o’clock you can still draw. If you prefer to carry with a manual safety good stuff if you will only carry striker fire no safety that works good. Revolvers only sure. You don’t carry one in the chamber because you have toddlers clinging to you that’s fine keep those kids safe. It’s crazy to me how this sub becomes so quickly my way or the highway. You own a gun you’re an adult you can carry how ever you please there is no single right way. That being said be safe keep you and others safe and shoot oftenEdit: I guess I need to be more clear. There are bad ways to carry that’s not the point. I just got a job in a freezer warehouse that stays at -20 fahrenheit. This job pays better than the career I've been pursuing for 4 years and have a bachelor's in, but I'm wondering if there's any ccw ammo people can recommend for regular and extreme low temperatures? Also bonus points for firearms you've found that don't function in low temps I have many of the common ccw pistols and will probably carry a shield plus unless I receive negative feedback about cold temps with that gun. Wanted to get some thoughts on carrying a back up gun via ankle holster.

need some advice on a car gun.

tl;dr: i’m going to put a pistol in my car and want it to be readily accessible. where should i keep it?i do uber eats late night. most of the time i don’t leave my house until after 10pm. typically get home around 4am. i carry a pistol on my hip, i’ve got OC spray now (thank you guys for the advice on that). this happened a few days ago. i pick up from that spot pretty regularly. now, i have the option to reject deliveries. i would not taken that run. i know the area pretty well and that’s not a place to be even in the daytime. that said, shit can happen anywhere and i do end up in some sketch areas. i’m good to access my gun when i’m out of the car, but it’s not uncommon for customers to come to my car and get the food themselves. if shit goes down right there i’m not confident i could get to my carry gun quickly enough. i don’t wanna put it in the glove box or center console cuz that’s an extra step. i also don’t wanna just throw it under the seat cuz it could end up anywhere. what should i do?side note: i’ve been rolling with an 870 in my trunk since the “unpleasantness” so that’s there if things really goes go bad. "Tactical" Khaki pants

Probably a better question for r/EDC but that sub appears to be permanently gone. This sub is probably the closest since what I need revolves around CCW too.I am back in situations where I need to dress at least to business casual level. Since it has been at least a decade since I've had to do that, none of my pants fit, in the good way that they are much too big. Looking at the market today, it seems like there are few options. Not really looking for anything too fancy like the old Eotac ones with the hidden pockets. Just would like to have an out of the way place for my knife and light. An elastic waist band would be nice, so it can be used for both IWB and pocket carry.I went to the local 5.11 store and picked a pair of their Chino Slim pants, it is close but it would be nice to have other color options than the three that they offer. Anyone have any experiences with the Tier1 Axis slim for the Shield Plus?

Got a Tulster profile holster recently for my Shield Plus, not happy with it at all. It’s single clip and doesn’t have too much adjustability for my liking. It also bulges too much on one side.
