Drew my weapon in the thought of a threat presence today

Why I’m writing this, I’m surprised by my reaction time to the moment I knew something wasn’t right. Mainly because I’ve always thought about how I’d react in such a situation. It was stressful in the moment but ended with relief.I went to the store with my son, I remember closing and locking the door. We get back and I unstrap him from his car seat. As we head to the door I’m looking for my key to open the lock, once I found said key i look up and see the front door cracked open. Unfortunately by the time I saw, he was already two steps in. I immediately grab his shirt, pull him back, and draw to a low ready to check my immediate surroundings. My wife had gotten home without her car and didn’t tell me. She was getting it worked on in the shop. I asked her from then on to tell me she was home if she didn’t have her car in the driveway. I’m glad it ended the way it did but could have easily been a bad day.As stated before. I was surprised in myself of the reaction time when I noticed something wasn’t right just wanted to share a story from a long time lurker. Thanks. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/G1kowQf
