Do you ever feel that some people rely on weapons too much? Do you witness people treating weapons as magic wands?
I argue that people who think they will never need self-defense training are wrong and some of them are naive. Nevertheless, people who carry weapons are convinced that they will encounter a self-defense scenario sometime in the future; otherwise why do they carry weapons?
Therefore I expect people who choose to carry weapons to be responsible: Train in self-defense; get stronger or stay fit; go to the shooting range (if you carry a legal handgun), etc.
Most importantly: do not lose your weapon! If you carry a weapon, you have the added responsibility to protect it.
I argue that if you are a lazy person who wants to feel more safe, weapons will only give you that: a false sense of security, if not coupled with actual self-defense training and weapons training.
Your own weapon and your weapon-focused-mindset... can get you killed; injured; sent to jail; your weapon may get stolen from you and used to attack or threaten another one of us; it can get you in severe danger; it can escalate a scenario needlessly.
Dear redditors, keep in mind that handguns might be legal in your local jurisdiction, but not everywhere on this planet. Therefore the advice "get a gun." could be illegal.
First advice should always be "go train" IMHO.
What do you think?
