Examples of someone fighting their way to a bigger gun?

The notion of using a CCW to fight your way to a truck gun or HD rifle/PCC/shotgun has been thrown around by a lot of people online. this seems feasible from an LEO standpoint and I'm sure it's happened to some. I'm curious if a private citizen has needed to fight to a bigger gun, and done so.
