Just got my Shield Plus 4” non-optic model in and took it for a test drive. First impression - fantastic.I like the new grip texturing and additional width in the grip. It’s hardly noticeable but makes a significant difference. One thing some may have over looked is the grip strip on the back of the backstrap that really locks your hand in and prevents any side to side movement that I had issues with in the first gen. I was shooting 1.5” groups at 5-7 yards out of the box which is better than I shoot my current shield. The trigger feels nice, not crunchy or stiff like the first gen and easy to feel the short take up, wall and break. I will say the reset leaves some to be desired. Not audible (not a big thing to me) but not very crisp or defined and I had several instances when I thought I had released my finger enough to reset and pulled to a dead trigger. Just part of the learning curve I suppose but it surprised me.I did not have the same feeling or complaint about others in regard to the 13 round magazine feeling like there’s a gap or having any pinching while shooting. It is no different than any extended magazine but the best part is - NO sleeve. I hated the sleeve with a vengeance and would not have bought the shield plus fully for that reason if they maintained it.The 4” model is the way to go in my opinion. I like that barrel length the most in terms of sight picture and I’m sure it’ll help offset the extra weight in the grip with the new capacity while carrying. It’s noticeably less snappy but I never thought shields were that snappy to begin with. Also ate all types of ammo I threw at is as expected.Solid CCW choice and I think it’s a no brainer for anyone looking to increase capacity or has a shield and wants to stay loyal to the brand or line of pistols. It’s not anything groundbreaking, just a good gun amongst an ever growing market via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2RV8WeG
