I work a high-risk career involving employee terminations following unruly conduct. Employees are known to feel "wronged", targetted, and generally angry when we must interact. The location I support is rural America, where local militias, discrimination, and "alt-right" thinking are typical. One location I support has experienced an incident of workplace violence due to employee termination.
I'm seeking to better understand the steps I should take to keep my personal information private, including making it more difficult to locate me and my family.
Items I have already performed:
- 1.5 years of DeleteMe service.
- 6 months of OneRep service; recently canceled.
- Attempted to secure social media profiles.
- Restricted my voter registration information.
- Generally withheld personal information in everyday conversation, other than close friends and trusted acquaintances.
- Installed cloud-based 24/7 cameras on my home's entrance points.
- Installed window tint on our home's windows (day-time protection only).
- Obtained Concealed Weapons License and have begun training. The weapon is carried regularly in the vehicle, but not on my person.
What other items have I overlooked? Specific points of interest, even if outside the realm of this sub:
- Reducing the ability to locate physical addresses online.
- Increasing personal security and awareness while traveling in public settings.
- Increasing personal security and awareness while at work (limited allowance of traditional self-defense tools)
- Hardening physical security at home.
