[Question] Gift for GF

So my GF has to go down a dark alley when going home, where sometimes creepy dudes come up to her etc.

I wanted to gift her something to a) make her feel more safe and b) in an emergency case be able to defend herself.

So my question is, what would be the ideal self defense non-lethal weapon for her? Eg something that is easy to use and has a big "scare-factor"? I was thinking of either pepperspray or a tazer, but a springloaded knife also came to my mind.

Any opinions/suggestions? She would probably carry it in her handbag, so it should be able to be at least a bit shock resistant, but most importantly, as I've already said, it should be easy to use.
