Is there a pistol that can handle being underwater (saltwater) and maybe getting a little sand in it that I wouldn't have to worry about it being destroyed.

Just an hour ago I was fishing along the beach when I go away from the rest of the beach goers. I have my cast net in hand. Going along the mangroves when suddenly a guy smoking some weed said angrily "what did you come around here for" and whole bunch of stuff clearly very very angry and ready to attack me if I didn't leave. and he threatened me with violence. I said "Woah I'm sorry man just fishing I'll leave now" to de-escalate. My pistol was in my bag far away from where I was and if he was a threat I would've had to defend myself basically empty handed. Could a Springfield XDE handle saltwater?
