Hanks steel core belt vs Beltmans horse hide with internal stiffener? Which would be thicker?

I'm gonna be carrying a steel full size with an extra mag and want something to withstand that. I know they're both reputable companies, and Hanks has a way better warranty, but what do you guys think? Is horse that much stronger than steer (which Google says yes) that it would offset the steel core which Beltmans does not have?
