PHLster ENIGMA or eNiGmA or fuck it the instructional video was going to fast need to pause and rewatchhey its me pb! You know the guy who posted the "ELITIST" FAQ last week. You know the one where I ranted all over the common sense CCW stuff. Some take-awayYou still haven't read the FAQJudging by the post recently the above is true. We have a drive by shooting video asking what you would do? We also have a poor college student considering the Holosun and has no idea where to get a slide cut or if he/she should co-witness. (I know how hard college is like super tough so difficult to go online and find a place that cuts slides and just for you j3ffreyy the Holosun is a excellent choice you can find out in Sage Dynamics whitepaper that the Holosun is a prime choice for a pistol mounted optic.) And my personal favorite so far this week - Someone looking for a small handgun to be keep out of sight. Bonus points by mentioning it's for personal protection only.Rest assured your version two post is coming but, todays post is about the mysterious, sensational, always out of stock, hard to find a compatible holster forPre-RantYou heard that right kids mine came in the mail this morning. Nothing to do with the Enigma butFuck the USPS for putting it out for delivery everyday for the past week on shipping tracking only for me to get my hopes up and literally pitch a tent outside my house. Only to go back inside and see the delivery has been updated. (If your a mail employee no disrespect I honestly think we have some sort of blacklist for the amoutn of gun parts and accessories that get delivered here to my home.)UnboxComes double wrapped in that hard to tear postal plastic.Nice baggy holds all your parts insideLots of small pieces (washers, screws, etc. etc.)Great now what. I'll tell you what the most infuriating 4 hours of my life. ASSEMBLYFirst off PHLster has been sending me a shit ton of emails. Most of them are them wanting me to buy "accessories" or "hey do you need some PHLster compatible holsters?" No the fuck I do not. If I wanted a Floodlight, I would have wombo combo the purchase when it was offered. I pre examined the spacing and bought a serviceable holster for G17/G19x (i run both) that accepts a TLR-1 and had a compatible claw. The email I did keep though was titled "something something PHLster Enigma tutorials". Seemed relevant considering I knew nothing about how to set it up.So I bust out the materials and start up the youtube video PHLster made linked in the email. First step is to take all the attachments off my holster. Ok no problem easy. Pause and unscrew the overhooks, and the claw. Moving on (unpause) and dude immediately starts attaching the shell. Cool got it. Except enter surprised pikachu face............His Enigma shell and mine are different. Now I understand that these instruction are for a normal Enigma.Let's pause for a moment. You know I like to think of myself as a pretty normal guy. Most of the time I reference instructions even for building or assembling something. I read the gun manual when I purchase a new weapon. So PHLster has linked a instructional video WITH NO MENTION OF WHAT VERSION ENIGMA you have and just has you start screwing things in. Only to realize that FOR THE LIGHT BEARING ENIGMA YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE CLAW ON THE ENTIRE TIME.So fuck the emails you receive from PHLster if you purchased a light bearing enigma. You need to go to this location. (https://ift.tt/3fnxwgs) Where you get a paper/online copy. Which then has you travel all the way back to the original instructional video and skip through to the end for the belt and what I have dubbed the "girdle" leg leash. If you have not guessed by now I work in IT. I despise unclear documentation. If your company sends me a "tutorial" video for a product I purchased that's excellent! As you can see I watched it. As you can also see it has nothing to do with the product I purchased except for the last 5 minutes. Can you not track who buys what versions and send the appropriate tutorial. I was already nervous doing all the screwing and attaching etc. Only to find out i took off shit that did not need to be taken off. Moving on.You need the patience of a saint and if you have normal sized hands reaching up into the kydex to mount the bottom set of plugs is a nightmare. I had to have my fiancee put those in as I couldn't shove my hand far enough in the holster. Also once you get that fucking plug in slam that neoprene spacer over it ASAP or it might fall back through the hole and you have to go through the process again.Mounting the shell isnt hard and on the light bearing its held in place by 4 screws. Now I did have a slight issue with determining the Enigma chassis position. In the instructional it references aligning the screws on the claw with the mount points. There were 2 possible places that would have worked for me and I went with the one that lined up the most. Any higher or lower than those two would have matched up with the instructions on bad claw placement.Right now your like fuck yeah pb! You did it. You used a screwdriver and mounted yourself a genuine Enigma chassis. Well PHLster has more surprises for you.Surprise 1 - The Belt AttachmentI may need to be tested for mental deficiency. I re-watched the tutorial portion on youtube like 4 times before I understood how to thread the female portion of the belt attachment through. But I finally got it.Surprise 2 - Oh you followed out instructional video. Great if you could just GO WATCH THE VIDEO ABOUT RETENTION AND SIZING AFTER WE HAD YOU ATTACH IT LIKE WE DID IN THE VIDEO.PHLster what in the actual fuck. You reference attaching the belt portion right? Then you say use a rubber backer to really get the screws in there tight. So I pause go get my shit and mount my belt to the chassis only for you to end the video by telling me to go watch HOW TO UNSCREW IT SO IT CAN FIT MY BODY BETTER?So I sit here in amazement for 5 minutes while you explain all different upsie downsies I can do dependent on my preference for carry. Only to realize I torqued those fucking screws in there just like you told me to in your"tutorial" video. ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuPSA IF YOU HAVE YOUR CHASSIS ON BEFORE ATTACHING YOU BELT WATCH THE ADJUSTMENT VIDEOSet-up thoughtsPHLster if you or your employees troll these boards for the love of god update your tutorial please. Make a Light bearing video. I know I am but one man and editing takes time but just a voiceover mentioning the light bearing differences would be much appreciated.Take your time. I was very excited to receive this. I could have solved some of my issues by slowing myself down.It did start to click after a short time and I was moving through the steps.Really pay attention to the adjustments and the leg-leash "girdle" a very small lengthening adjustment made the draw much smoother. So what the fuck pb? Does it work? Does it make you hard? Can you jack it with the leg leash attached? You may have thought this was a bad review. If so you were wrong very much dead wrong. My goal with the Enigma was to be able to carry my 17MOS and 19x (milled for dot) in any outfit, at any time, on any day. Or to put it plainly I would like to carry the two weapon platforms I train on the most all the time. I also love workout shorts. Normally I would grab the 380 or the FN503 etc. with ulti clips.I no longer need to do that. The Enigma is fucking amazing. It is comfy. The belt doesnt itch around my hips. The gun sits exactly where I want it to EVERY SINGLE TIME.Once I adjusted the leg leash "girdle" the draws were buttery smooth. Seriously my jaw dropped when I drew it out the first time. I legit did not understand why it was working like I had an entire AIWB rig on. I just kind of walked around the house drawing the gun and it was no different then drawing from any other holster.I am carrying a G17 w/RMR and TLR-1 in Adidas drawstring shorts right now. Dreams do come true.I would recommend purchasing either version dependent on your needs. You owe it to yourself to try this out. I do not work for Phlster, I also didnt get a promo or anything. Just like you guys I was spam refreshing the page for about a week and snagged one on like a weds night at 11pm or some shit.I will answer as many questions as you have if you post them here. I dont mind at all. And yes I will write up the burning questions v2.0. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3w6BBfG
