I've had two situations where I truly believed I may need to shoot somebody, both home invasion flavor.I was at my friend's house around 11pm. Our two friends, his sister, and his girlfriend were present. We were in the basement having a few drinks, I had my Glock 29 because I trust myself buzzed and there's no law in my state forbidding drinking and carrying. We heard breaking glass from upstairs near the back door. Everyone went silent. I remember muttering, "am I really going to have to do this?" as I drew my gun. Everyone hid in a bathroom in the basement while my friend and I went to investigate. We didn't see anybody, so we made our way to his bedroom where he got his 357. After checking back downstairs, we swept the house then checked outside. Turns out the cat just broke a vase. Everyone was glad I had my gun.I was house sitting for some friends while they were out of town and looking after their dogs. I brought my 300blk pistol and my P229 because they live in an expensive house with an uncomfortable number of easy to infiltrate glass doors leading outside. It was around 2:30 in the morning, I was gaming on my PC I brought in the dining room. Both dogs were in the living room and out of nowhere completely lost their shit and ran to the front door, barking like crazy. I grabbed my 229 to get to my backpack which had my AR pistol disassembled. Once that was together I made my way to the front door. It took me a second to get the nerve to look out the window but nobody was there. I then swept the house, found nothing, checked the back yard to find nothing. Dogs don't just freak out like that and I doubt it was the mailman at 2:30am. I had my AR disassembled in a backpack because my friends have a few nanny cams around the house and while they aren't against people owning guns, they don't understand why anyone would "need to" and probably wouldn't be stoked about me bringing mine over.I'm glad nothing came of either situation and I'm even more glad I had enough wits about me to be able to keep my composure, this makes me very confident I'll be able to handle myself should the worst happen. I will say in 2, I was really nervous about checking the ground level because the entire side of the house facing the back yard is windows and three glass doors. I was sure if there was an intruder, I'd meet him there. Slept with the AR cocked and locked that night. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3ep9ikr
